Create a mixing technology unit for your class

We provide you with 25 full length individual instrument stems to a song for your students to play around with in whatever software they use. They can experiment with mixing volumes, adding effects, taking out tracks, replacing tracks with their own recording, mixing with loops and electronic sounds, the possibilities are endless. It’s a great way to get students using their ears and thinking about new ways to approach music. We’ll also throw in the sheet music for the tune as well! If you want parts for another instrument, just ask. We have 3 different songs to choose from.

Each set of 25 stems + score and parts is just $100. We have 3 selections available.

Here’s an example

This tune is called Blue Water Sailing Club. Here’s a truncated version.

Here’s a piece of a trumpet stem. One of the 25 stems you’ll get to download.

Your students can take the downloaded tracks and play with effects and volume levels. I added reverb to this one.

Or try something more elaborate. Have the students write down what happens to the sound when they use different techniques.

Let’s Get Creative!

Students can try to make the song sound as close to my original mix as possible or take samples of the stems and create something truly their own. The listening skills they learn in band class can be used to mold and shape the acoustic music and fuse it with electronic samples and loops. Here’s something I whipped up in just a few minutes using garage band.

We also give you the chart so your students can play along or replace whatever stems they want.
